7 DEAD AND 19 INJURED IN CAR CRASHES OVER MEMORIAL WEEKEND IN LOS ANGELES.
In another deadly holiday weekend on L.A. roads, 26 people were injured or killed this Memorial Day. Two separate fatal car accidents occurred; one in South LA at Crenshaw Blvd., and the other near Laurel Canyon. The Crenshaw accident involved a six-car fire and left 2 children dead. The other accident in the Hollywood Hills had an SUV rolling off the road and crashing into a carport, killing two passengers. The South Los Angeles accident happened at the busy intersection of Crenshaw & Florence. Five people died in the pile-up accident, including two kids, 7 and 12. The crash began when a van sped through a red light, colliding with another van attempting to cross the intersection. The crash set the first van on fire and flying through the air. Four other cars crashed in a chain reaction to the initial event. The children died at the scene, and two other victims died at the hospital.
In the other deadly wreck, a Range Rover SUV fell 250 feet off a Hollywood Hills road, landing on its alongside a carport. Two passengers died, including one at the scene and another at the hospital. The driver sustained critical injuries, and two other passengers, including a child, escaped thru the sunroof and had less severe wounds. According to reports, the driver possibly drove into a large pothole, losing control of the SUV and causing the deadly rollover.
