FATAL ROLLOVER WRECK ON SANTA CLARITA HIGHWAY
An unidentified driver died in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 5 this week. Rollovers are the most deadly type of motor vehicle accidents, due to the high-impact and violent nature of the roll over event. Rollover crashes are frequently solo vehicle wrecks, and any type of motor vehicle can roll over. On May 24 in the early morning, a driver was killed on Southern California’s Golden State Freeway, I-5, in a rollover accident. The unidentified driver was traveling north on the highway near Calgrove Boulevard. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck, as is common in rollover accidents. The exact cause of the fatal crash is unknown.
Speed and driver inattention, or impairment, are frequent players in rollover crashes. “Tripped” rollovers are the most common type of rollover accidents, occurring when the vehicle is “tripped” into rolling by a curb, guardrail, or uneven pavement surface. Rollovers resulting from turning sharply, such as to avoid an obstruction, are considered un-tripped.
