The victim was attacked by dogs who had escaped their home through a window. The landlords of the property were trying to have the dogs seized by animal control prior to the attack. The people named as defendants in the lawsuit included both the owners of the dogs and the owners of the property from which the dogs escaped. After the attack, the pit bulls were located and killed by police.

The judge ruled that the injuries and lacerations to the man’s face, limbs, and internal organs were permanently “disfiguring and disabling.” In addition to his multi-million dollar compensation, the man’s wife received an award of $300,000.
