According to the National Safety and Transportation Board (NTSB) there have been 65 deadly air ambulance accidents since 1989, and 28 people died in them this year. The paper reports that a number of factors are contributing to the recent heightened crash risk. A rise in the number of medical helicopter service providers has created a climate of competition.
