A child was killed by a man driving a Chevy pickup when he went onto the road to retrieve a football. The 11-year old was playing with friends, and apparently he did not see the oncoming truck on 45th Street West in Quartz Hill. The driver was traveling at about 30 mph, and attempted to stop by braking when he saw the victim. Sadly, he was unable to stop and the child died. The accident remains under investigation.
