A gas leak from a furnace ignited causing an explosion in a Long Beach apartment building. Building walls were damaged and windows were blown out by the blast. Miraculously it appears no one was injured. Fire officials speculate that a leak in forced-air heating furnace slowly collected gas which ultimately blew up. A PG&E gas leak in the Sacramento area recently demolished a home and left one dead and more injured with serious burns.
