MINI CAR DANGER: UNSAFE IN HEAD ON COLLISIONS. CALL CRASH LAWYERS OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.
In the current economy, people are looking for ways to save. One solution drivers are using is trading in their midsize, full-size or larger vehicles for popular mini cars. While mini cars may be cheaper and less expensive on gas, are they really a better choice for safety? It appears that the answer is no. A study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) found that minicars fare more poorly than larger cars in head on crashes. Analysts say a minicar can be a deadly choice compared to a large vehicle due to their smaller size and smaller weight. Have you or someone close to you been involved in a crash in a minicar in Southern Cal? Then call 1-800-ALAWPRO to speak to a lawyer for free.
The IIHS report involved three different mini car models: the Smart Fortwo, Toyota Yaris and the Honda Fit. In the experiment, they crashed the mini car with a midsized model by the same makers, with each car traveling 40 miles per hour. As the cars collided head on in an 80 mph crash, the smaller minicar occupants, crash test dummies “fared poorly.” Seemingly, size was the overwhelming factor in the results. Had larger vehicles impacted the mini cars, the results might have been worse. Injuries incurred from head on car crashes include brain and spinal injuries, neck and back injuries, broken bones, paralysis and death.
