FALLING SCAFFOLDING AT LA TIMES BOOK FAIR INJURES THREE AT UCLA. CALL PERSONAL INJURY LAWYERS OF LA.
Southern Californians attend local events with the expectation of being safe. Unfortunately fair and event organizers or contractors can create dangerous situations if they use unsafe structures or practice unsafe building practices when accommodating their guests. At a recent LA area book fair, a scaffolding structure collapsed in the wind, hurting 3 attendees. At Los Angeles events locations, including larger venues such as County fairs or theme parks, accidents can include ride injuries, electrocutions, slips, trips or falls, drownings, and amputations. The scaffolding accident occurred at the annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at UCLA. The 15-foot scaffolding blew over from a gust of wind. The structure fell onto three victims, all of whom were hospitalized. It was not reported whether the scaffolding itself was faulty or if it was erected improperly. Most deadly scaffolding accidents take place at construction sites and involve employees.
