More disturbing evidence of inappropriate behavior by the Metrolink engineer of the doomed Chatsworth collision is surfacing. The accident that killed 25 and injured at least 130 people happened when the commuter train crashed into a Union Pacific freight train last year. In addition to having sent many text messages while driving the train, now investigators say that the engineer had a teenager in the train while moving and offered to have him operate it. A new report by the Los Angeles Times reveals that Metrolink chose not to install an automatic brake system 20 years ago. A southbound Caltrain struck a tractor trailer in Burlingame causing significant delays. A spokesperson for Metrolink has admitted that the cause of Friday’s deadly head-on crash between a Metrolink commuter train and a freight train in Chatsworth was due to their engineer who failed to stop at a red light. The deadly crash occurred Friday, September 12th, 2008 at approximately 4:30pm in the Los Angeles suburb. Over 200 people were riding the commuter train when it slammed head-on into the oncoming train. As of now, 25 people are dead as a result of the collision and over 130 are injured. 45 of the injured are considered in critical condition, and over 40 were flown to local area hospitals for urgent care. A woman was killed when a train crashed into her car in San Bernardino, California. The accident happened around 4am.
