METROLINK CRASH INJURES CAR & COMMUTER TRAIN PASSENGERS. PACOIMA LAWYERS ARE HERE TO HELP YOU.

So Cal train accidents can involve commuter trails, freight rail lines, cars, or pedestrians, and that means that road vehicle or train occupants can get hurt or killed in crashes. When a commuter train is involved in a crash, multiple partied may be responsible: train engineers, rail maintenance companies, Metrolink, and others. Discovering who is to blame is complicated, so if you or a loved one has been involved in a train-related accident in the San Fernando Valley, get legal help now at 1-800-ALAWPRO.

A San Fernando Valley chain-reaction crash involving a Metrolink commuter train resulted in the injuries of 6 people including train, car and pickup truck occupants. The train hit a pickup truck that had been struck by a car attempting to avoid an ambulance. The crash happened on railroad tracks running parallel to a major road in Pacoima. Four car and truck passengers suffered major injuries while 8 train passengers had minor injuries.

Meanwhile Metrolink is in the news for other reasons: bypassing a federally safety requirement. Apparently Metrolink was allowed a waiver, allowing the rail service to bypass posting signs reminding their train operators to slow down after exiting a rail station. An LA area train crash that killed more than two dozen people last year allegedly involved the engineer speeding after leaving a station. METROLINK VICTIMS AWARDED MILLIONS IN TRAIN CRASH IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY (Part 1 of 2)

Trains are an efficient and quick way for people to travel by; although train rides may pose some sort of danger, it is relatively safe compared to other modes of transportation. Even though the accidents may occur less frequently than other vehicles, when train accidents occur, there may be mass fatalities and catastrophe caused by the train. Have you or a family member been involved in a train accident and want to learn about your rights? Then call Greenberg & Rudman LLP now at 1-800-252-9776 (1-800-ALAWPRO); our experienced attorneys may be able to help.

On October 15, 2009, Metrolink settled several lawsuits arising from the 2005 crash in Glendale, which killed 11 people and injured approximately 180. The incident occurred because Juan Manuel Alvarez parked his car on the tracks, doused the interior with gasoline and attempted to commit suicide. He was unsuccessful and instead, the Metrolink train crashed into the car, skidded and derailed. The central issue in the lawsuit was the positioning of the locomotive on the train and whether it would have prevented the accident had it been positioned in the front. Alvarez was convicted of 11 counts of first degree murder and sentenced to life.

Metrolink3.jpg Metrolink settled with two families in wrongful death claims ($3.5 million each), and two injury settlements, one at $5 million and the other for $3.8 million. The other damage awards range from $1,000 to $50,000. All of the cases that were not settled in this matter will go to trial in January. Did you know that Greenberg & Rudman LLP has won over $150 million in verdicts and settlements for our clients? METROLINK TRAIN HITS TRUCK IN OXNARD. WARNING SYSTEM NOT QUICK ENOUGH TO STOP CRASH.

Train crashes can happen for various reasons including engineer error, rail system defect, and vehicle or debris mistakenly on railroad tracks. A spate of recent rail crashes appears to have been the fault of the train operators and/or rail system procedure or mechanisms. Learning who is to blame if you have been hurt in a train crash is a complex and difficult process. Whether you have been the passenger on a train, a bystander, or an occupant of a vehicle that has been hit by a rail or train car, you need legal help if you have been involved in a So Cal train crash. Metrolink, Amtrak and Union Pacific are three of the most common rail users in Southern California. Find out more about train crashes and your rights at www.alawpro.com. Call 1-800-ALAWPRO if you’ve been in a CA rail crash now.

Oxnard, Ventura County, is the site of the most recent Metrolink crash. The train hit a truck that was stopped on the tracks after it was in an accident with another vehicle. As firemen attempted to free the truck driver from his vehicle, the train bounded towards the stranded vehicles on the tracks. Calls to warn the oncoming train from dispatchers and rescue officials were unable to stop the train before it hit the truck. Luckily two firefighters pulled the driver, who appeared to have suffered spinal or back injuries, from the truck seconds before the train hit it. No train passengers were physically injured. The truck driver and the occupant of another vehicle involved in the original crash were hospitalized for their injuries.

METROLINK TRAIN CRASH INJURES TWO PEOPLE IN OXNARD—CALL ACCIDENT INJURY LAWYERS NOW FOR FREE CONSULTATION

Last year, a Metrolink accident resulted in the injury of several dozen passengers. After an investigation of the incident, it was determined that the accident occurred because the conductor was text messaging on his cell phone and had been negligent in his duties. Some train accidents occur because of unfortunate circumstances that could not have been prevented—for example, extreme weather conditions or freak accidents. However, other accidents, like the Metrolink accident in 2008, are entirely preventable and can be attributed to the negligence of a person or company. In these kinds of situations, there may be legal remedies for the injured victims to obtain compensation.

On Thursday, August 27, 2009, there was another Metrolink accident in Oxnard. There was initially an accident on the railroad tracks involving two vehicles. Firefighters were trying to free an injured man from his vehicle when the train struck one of the vehicles that was left partially on the tracks. The Metrolink train stopped at the scene for more than an hour. No one on the train was injured, but the passengers in the vehicles were injured and transported to a hospital to be treated. In this circumstance, it is not entirely clear who was at fault in the incident, and would likely need to be investigated further.

TRAIN ACCIDENTS CLAIM MANY LIVES IN CALIFORNIA—CALL EXPERIENCED CORONA ATTORNEY NOW

Trains carrying a heavy load of freight or several passenger cars might not be able to stop in time for pedestrians on the tracks or cars parked illegally over railroad tracks. The conductor may hit the emergency brake in time, or blow his horn, but in desperate times, little else may be done before a collision occurs. In an accident on August 11, 2009, west of the 91 Freeway, Howard Clark was driving on the freeway when he swerved from the left lane to the right shoulder, hit the guard rail and rolled down an embankment before landing on railroad tracks. A passing train struck the car on its passenger side before the car turned over onto its roof. Clark was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, in 2007, there were eight fatalities that resulted from train accidents and collisions. Of the eight fatalities, four of them were a result of the train’s derailment. A total of 2,580 accidents occurred in 2007, 200 of which were collisions. Four passengers on trains were killed as a result of accidents in 2007, and 630 trespassers on the railroad tracks were killed in accidents. Most of the trespasser fatalities occurred on the railroad while a smaller number occurred at the grade crossing. There was a total of $305.3 million in damages from train accidents in 2007.

There have been several train accidents in California in the last few months. These train accidents may result in serious injury, and often times death. In order to protect yourself and your family, call the attorneys at Greenberg & Rudman LLP if you have been involved in a train accident. You may be entitled to compensation. LIGHT RAIL TRAIN CRASH HURTS DOZENS ON SF MUNI METRO AFTER OPERATOR BLACKS OUT.

There were three major rail crash accidents in the past 10 months in the US, and now there has been a fourth. Californians rely on public transportation in many forms including buses, minibuses, vans, trains, subways, and light rail, and, as a public transportation user, you have every right to a safe transit and commute. But a string of rail or train accidents have left both Northern and Southern California riders reeling. A Muni Metro light rail train rear-ended another train at a boarding platform in San Francisco, hurting 47 people. Whether train accidents are the fault of operator error, product malfunction or debris on the tracks, injured passengers need legal counsel immediately. Call 1-800-ALAWPRO now if you or a loved one has been hurt in a CA rail or train crash.

The SF metro light rail accident occurred in the afternoon when the Municipal Railway L train slammed into a K train. Of the 47 injured people, four were seriously hurt, and 15 went to the ER. Injuries included lacerations, broken ribs and concussions. According to the SF transit workers union, the train driver blacked out due to a medical condition prior to the crash. Investigators have found that the train was on manual mode, against regulations, in an attempt to speed up boarding and unloading. Apparently, switching from automatic to manual to hurry stops is a common but forbidden practice. The auto mode is designed to prevent collisions, among other things. If you’d like to learn more about train accidents and CA victims’ rights, visit www.alawpro.com now.

COMMUTER TRAIN PEDESTRIAN DEATHS MOUNTING IN CALIFORNIA. CALL A LA PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEY.

Shockingly, there have been three pedestrian deaths on Caltrain tracks in the month of May. The growing trend is disturbing and unfortunate. In two of the instances all of the warning systems seemed to have been working appropriately, but still a teenager and a senior citizen were struck and killed by commuter trains in separate incidents. Getting hurt or killed by a train may mean that the train company, train and track manufacturer, alert system maker and installer, municipality, train engineer, or other company are at fault. Don’t wait before getting the legal counsel you deserve. Call 1-800-ALAWPRO now to talk to a California train accident lawyer for free now.

While the three fatalities the past month occurred on Northern California Caltrain tracks, Southern California is no stranger to train crash deaths – including those of both pedestrians and commuter train passengers. Last year’s notorious Chatsworth crash appears to be in part the fault of the train engineer text messaging while driving the locomotive. The spate of recent deaths may give cause to reconsider whether the current warning system at railroad crossing is sufficient. METROLINK TRAIN KILLS BOY AT CROSSING. CALL TRAIN ACCIDENT LAWYERS OF RIVERSIDE NOW.

It seems that the number of train-related deaths in Southern California is never-ending. Train crashes can involved other trains, vehicles such as cars, trucks, buses, vans, motorcycles or bicycles, or pedestrians. When a smaller vehicle such as a car or a unprotected pedestrian are struck by a train, the results are often deadly. This most recent train fatality occurred in the morning at a Riverside RR crossing. The 14-year old victim and a friend stopped at the crossing arm as a westbound train passed. METROLINK CRASH ENGINEER UNDER INVESTIGATION. TRAIN CRASH LAWYERS OF SO CAL ARE HERE FOR YOU NOW.

More disturbing evidence of inappropriate behavior by the Metrolink engineer of the doomed Chatsworth collision is surfacing. The accident that killed 25 and injured at least 130 people happened when the commuter train crashed into a Union Pacific freight train last year. In addition to having sent many text messages while driving the train, now investigators say that the engineer had a teenager in the train while moving and offered to have him operate it. Lawsuits have been filed against the engineer as well as his employers. Call 1-800-ALAWPRO now to speak with a Metro link train crash lawyer for free.

In new evidence, it appears that the engineer of the train, who died in the accident, sent more than 43 text messages the day of the crash. He also made at least 4 phone calls. Information from the text messages suggest that the engineer was planning to allow a teenage train fan to run the locomotive at some time in the near future. It is not clear whether he had already allowed the teen to operate active train machinery, but it is known that he allowed the boy into the train cab. The investigation strongly suggests that the engineer’s running of a red light caused the deadly crash.

OBSTRUCTED VIEW CAN CAUSE DEADLY TRAIN ACCIDENT. CALL RAIL CRASH LAWYERS OF LA COUNTY.

Train crashes have become an all too common occurrence in California. Commuter rail systems like Caltrain and Metrolink as well as Amtrak have had multiple fatal accidents in the past 12 months. One of the most dangerous spots for trains and railroad accidents are the crossings. With so many trains in use in populated areas, more and more accidents are occurring at RR crossings. If a train track crossing lacks appropriate signage, warning lights, alarm bells, and gates, or if it is not properly maintained for visibility, the results can be catastrophic. The family of a man killed when he was hit by an Amtrak train is suing the train company, railway company, as well as the city and county where deadly crash occurred. To learn more about train crashes and victim’s rights, visit our website at www.alawpro.com. Or if you or a loved one has been hurt or killed in a Los Angeles area railroad accident, call 1-800-ALAWPRO to speak with an attorney at no cost.

In the Amtrak lawsuit, the victim’s family is suing for negligence and wrongful death. The man was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Las Vegas as he crossed the tracks. The railroad crossing had a sign but no other warning system. The suit claims that the victim’s sightline was blocked by overgrown vegetation. That crossing was the location of another death in January.

TEXTING IN MERTOLINK TRAIN CRASH KNOWN BY EMPLOYERS. CALL LOS ANGELES LAWYER FOR HELP NOW.

Text messaging is now illegal while driving in California. Prior to this law, train officials outlawed cell phone usage by railroad engineers completely. Still, it appears that the man driving the Metrolink train that killed more than 20 people in Chatsworth last year was texting while driving. Now lawyers for those killed and injured in the crash say that management received complaints regarding the engineer's text messaging. If you or a loved one were injured or killed in a train accident in California, call 1-800-ALAWPRO and speak with a lawyer at no cost.

The crash victims' attorneys states that the company responsible for employing the engineer had information regarding his forbidden cell phone usage and text messaging. Another employee allegedly complained about his phone use days and even hours before the deadly crash. Investigators found that the engineer sent "dozens of messages" while on duty the day of the crash. The employment company's policy forbids cell phone use by employees. It appears that the engineer missed a red light, which led to the fatal crash. The engineer was also killed in the crash, and victims have field a wrongful death and negligence suit against the engineer and the company which employed him.

HIT BY A TRAIN IN LA? CALL LOS ANGELES INJURY LAWYERS NOW.

Train accidents can affect, injure and kill passengers, drivers of other vehicle and even pedestrians. While there are many devices designed to protect people from trains on the move, accidents still happen. Faulty signal lights or gates, poorly marked railroad track areas, or a lack of crosswalk can lead to people crossing train tracks and getting hit. As multiple California train accidents have piled up in the past months, officials are urging people to use caution around trains. Nevertheless, two more train crash deaths occurred in Southern California this week. If you or a loved one has been hurt or killed in a Metrolink or Amtrak train crash in LA, call 1-800-ALAWPRO to speak with a lawyer for free.

Chatsworth was the location of last year's Metrolink disaster which killed dozens and injured hundreds when a passenger train collided with a freight train. Now Chatsworth is again the site of a train-related fatality. The grab-bar of a passing Amtrak train struck and killed a woman as she and her family were walking in a narrow train tunnel. The tunnel is an “off-limits area” for pedestrians. None of the 400 passengers on the San Diego-bound train was injured. To learn more about train accidents, and victim's rights, visit www.alawpro.com. In a separate incident, a woman was killed when a Metrolink train hit her in Burbank.
